LA LA Mahjong makes learning and playing easy and fun, with a laid-back California style. We take the mystery (and the stress!) out of mahjong, keeping it fun, social, and approachable — all while staying true to the National Mahjong League (NMJL) rules.
Whether you’re mahjong curious and ready to learn the basics, a little tile-obsessed and craving strategy, or eager to compete in our league, there’s a seat for you. You can even rent tiles and other Mahjong accessories for your next special event or school fundraiser.

I took a beginner’s class with Lisa in a completely supportive environment, so I didn’t have to worry about a lack of experience. After just 3 classes, I made several friends, had an insane amount of fun…. And, I just won my first game! I cannot say enough great things about this organization!
Lisa is patient and FUN, as she sets a welcoming environment that guides you meticulously through the setup, understanding, and practice of Mahjong in just 2 days. It’s up to you to get out there and cement the practice, but I know you will once you learn. Did I mention it’s so much fun learning with Lisa! I hope I get to experience her league.
